We need YOUR help to gather samples of Saprolegnia.

Do you work in aquaculture or the ornamental fish trade?

We would like to include some Saprolegnia isolates from these sources in addition to gathering samples from wild fish.

If you are willing to send us a photograph of your fluffy fish, please send it to our PhD student Emily Matthews (see contact information below).

If you feel you are in a position to send us a sample of the fluff you find, email Emily and she will provide you with an easy-to-use sampling kit

Do you work in rivers, lakes or ponds?

We need anglers and the general public to report any sightings of fluffy fish.

Please do not remove fish from any watercourse, but make a note of the species, location and numbers of fish seen, and take a photograph if possible. Please pass this information on to Emily

Please do not endanger yourself in any way when around open water.

Please note that we are collecting samples for a Cardiff University research project and are not in a position to provide disease advice

If you have any disease concerns, please contact the Environment Agency Incident line on 0800 80 70 60. For more information on how to report an environmental incident please follow this link
